Job Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-oriented Shop Floor Staff to join our grocery store. As a member of the shop floor team, you will be responsible for stocking shelves, assisting customers, and ensuring the store is clean, organised, and well-presented. You will play a key role in providing excellent service to shoppers and maintaining product availability throughout the store.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stocking & Replenishment: Restock shelves and displays with products, ensuring they are well-organised, fully stocked, and attractively presented.
- Customer Assistance: Greet customers and offer help with locating products, answering queries, and providing product recommendations.
- Product Rotation: Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out) to minimise waste and maintain freshness of perishable items.
- Merchandising: Assist in setting up promotional displays and arranging products to maximise visual appeal and sales.
- Price Checking & Labelling: Ensure that all products are properly priced and labelled, including checking for expired items and removing them from the shelves.
- Store Maintenance: Keep the shop floor clean, tidy, and safe, including aisles, product displays, and restocking areas.
- Inventory Monitoring: Monitor stock levels and report low stock to the manager or relevant departments for replenishment.
- Customer Issue Resolution: Handle customer complaints or issues in a professional manner and escalate to the manager when necessary.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as cashiers, warehouse staff, and management, to ensure smooth store operations.
- Compliance: Follow all store policies, including health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and loss prevention measures.
Requirements:
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred but not essential.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and take direction from supervisors.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a neat, organised work environment.
- Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting and moving stock, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a grocery or retail setting.
- Familiarity with store layout and product categories.
- Basic knowledge of stock rotation and inventory control.
