Job Overview:

We are seeking a vigilant and professional Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our grocery store premises, staff, and customers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preventing theft, monitoring the store, responding to incidents, and maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment. You will also assist in enforcing store policies and providing a visible security presence to deter criminal activity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Security Monitoring: Patrol the store and surrounding areas to identify suspicious activity, potential theft, or breaches of security.
• Loss Prevention: Deter theft and shoplifting by maintaining a visible security presence and using CCTV to monitor the store.
• Incident Response: Respond promptly to any incidents, disturbances, or emergencies, including theft, vandalism, or accidents, ensuring the safety of all.
• Customer Assistance: Assist customers and staff when necessary, providing directions or helping in situations requiring security intervention.
• Health & Safety: Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed, including fire safety protocols, and assist with evacuations when needed.
• Reporting: Record and report incidents to management, including any thefts, security breaches, or unsafe conditions.
• Policy Enforcement: Ensure that store policies are followed by both customers and employees, and address any issues of misconduct or non-compliance.
• Access Control: Manage the entry and exit points of the store, checking for suspicious behaviour and unauthorised access.
• Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Work with local law enforcement in the event of serious security incidents or theft.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in security, preferably in a retail environment.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Strong observation and surveillance skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Professional and customer-focused attitude.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform patrol duties.
• Knowledge of security procedures and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid security license or certification.
• Experience using CCTV and other security equipment.
• First Aid or CPR certification.
